Carla’s First Taekwondo Demo Team Performance

Yesterday we went to watch Carla’s first Taekwondo demo team performance at Rogers Place, Edmonton. Carla and her friends from Taegeuk Taekwondo Edmonton South school were going to perform before an exhibition basketball game by Harlem Globetrotters.

Actually Carla has performed with her demo team once, but for an event organized by her Taekwondo school. Yesterday was her very first public performance.

We arrived at Rogers Place quite early, before 11 am. So, we had time to take pictures and have some snacks and drinks before Carla went to be with her demo team friends.

We went inside at 1 pm, bought some food and drinks, and went to our seats. Carla’s performance started at 1.30 pm.

Here is a video of her performance… Very proud moment for us!

Carla and her friends did a great job, especially considering that the demo team members from South school are all very young; the youngest are 7 and the oldest are only 14. Kudos to the masters too for their patience and hard work teaching the kids!

After the performance, Carla went to sit with us, and we all watched the game.

It was an exhibition game, not a real game! It was more like a show combining basketball, theatre and comedy. It was pretty entertaining with lots of jokes, slapstick comedy and audience participation. The players showed some real basketball skills too, with lots of cool moves.

We had a fun day yesterday… Carla was very happy and looking forward for her next Taekwondo demo team performance….
