From August 11 to August 21, there is a festival in the city that you wouldn’t want to miss… The 35th Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival!
Taking place in Old Strathcona, the festival features buskers, outdoor performers, artisans, vendors and over 1,600 live theatre performances in around 40 venues. In addition, it features KidsFringe, a free, fun and family-friendly mini-Fringe site for kids aged up to 12.
We spent the whole Sunday afternoon at KidsFringe, located at the North end of the Fringe festival site on 104 Street, between 85 and 86 Avenues.
There were so many things going on! We watched circus acts at the KidsFringe Stage and Carla participated in a mini circus workshop afterwards.
Carla and Renan had their faces painted at the Face Painting Palace. You can tell they are big fans of Pokémon….
They got busy at the Craft Corner….
…. and look what they made… spinners! They had fun playing with the spinners…..
A lot of toys were provided at the Centre Square for everyone to enjoy. Carla and Renan played hula hoop and spent quite some time blowing and chasing bubbles.
They also played football, I mean, soccer 😉 with Papai.
There was a great hip hop dance show, followed by a dance workshop. Renan didn’t want to dance, but Carla really enjoyed the workshop.
There were reading and story telling sessions at the Book Nook, and there were a lot of fun activities for kids aged 5 and under at the Tots Tent.
KidsFringe was fun! The shows and activities were great, but above all, we got to spend quality time together as a family… we could play and sit on the grass enjoying the hot and sunny weather together 🙂
So, remember, KidsFringe and 35th Edmonton Fringe Theatre Festival are still on until August 21… if you didn’t manage to go last weekend, don’t worry, you can still go there this weekend!
