You haven’t really been to Brazil if you haven’t visited the beautiful Brazilian beaches!
When we went to Brazil in 2013, we had a chance to visit Balneário Camboriú and Florianópolis, two places that are famous for their amazing beaches. They are located in the state of Santa Catarina, north of Rio Grande do Sul.
It is a small beach town that is popular with South American tourists. We stayed in Balneário Camboriú with Papai’s cousin’s family who owned a penthouse right in front of the town’s main beach.
We could enjoy the beautiful view of the beach from the living room….
…And this is the view from the pool deck a few floors below.
We could just cross the street, and we were there, on the beach! The beach was very nice, with a long stretch of soft sand and clear, calm and warm water. Perfect for families with young kids!

After a few days in Balneário Camboriú, we went to Florianópolis, the capital of Santa Catarina. Florianópolis is a big city, composed of a continental part, one main island and some small surrounding islands, so of course the city boasts a lot of beautiful beaches. We chose to stay at Ingleses beach (Praia dos Ingleses), around 30 km from downtown Florianópolis.
This is Ingleses beach. Beautiful, isn’t it?
On our first day at Ingleses, it was nice and sunny. The sky was so blue, the water was so clear and warm, and the sand…. Oh, the sand! The best sand ever! So clean, soft and fluffy, yet easy to mould, perfect for making sandcastles…. Too bad we didn’t take a lot of photos. We were too busy having fun on the beach, I guess! 😛
We spent the whole day on the beach, of course….
The next day, though, it was completely different. It drizzled the whole day. The sky was grey, and the temperature had dropped a lot. It was impossible to go to the beach… but we still had fun! We stayed for hours in the indoor heated pool, and also spent a long time relaxing in the hot jacuzzi outside. It was really nice to just sit there in the warm water, watching the rain and feeling the cold wind.
Can’t wait to explore more beaches in Brazil…. Where should we go next? Hmm…. 😉
